INDIEviduality, The Royal Elastics Tour | Style Manila, Manila Fashion BlogI go where the music is.

I’ve always been interested to check out the local INDIE music scene. Just never got around to following it as I would’ve liked. This event will allow me to experience it. Finally.

It’s INDIEviduality, The Royal Elastics Road Tour.

I’m looking forward to checking out the bands. I hear Nyco Maca + Playground, Taken by Cars, Pedicab, Cambio, Sino Sikat? and The Vince Noir Project will be playing at Warehouse 135 in Makati. Starts at half past 8 later this evening.

I’m all for promoting street art, music, and culture! Let’s throw in some street fashion in there, shall we?

I’m hoping to do some major camwhorage. So, if you want to get heavily snapped. Impress me. LOL. I kid. I kid. But yes, I do intend to wear my fashion bloggerazzi hat on tonight. Can’t wait to see all the personal styles I’ll get to discover.

If you’ll be there, say hi!

I will try promise not to bite.

A Loser’s Tale

After a night with the new batch of tart-tongued graphic misfits in a series of shorts shirts, here is one loser’s shirt short tale of the tongue-in-cheek humour, wit, and brutal honesty captured in a brilliantly satirical horde courtesy of the genius behind the popular t shirt brand, David & Goliath, Mr. Douchebag Todd Goldman.

If winning a pair of purple socks after almost running over a lady out of sheer competitiveness for saying “David & Goliath” backwards had made the experience memorably funny, having to sit through the whole thing with Gabe Mercado and his SPIT — er, that’s Silly People Improv Theater, silly — holding the mic had made everything friggin’ hilariously fun and I mean, tears-in-your-eyes-and-willing-them-to-stop-cuz-your-tummy-already-hurts-from-all-the-laughing sort of fun.

D&G + SPIT = Barrels of Laugh

Rather than bore you with inane details about the event, I’ll just entertain you guys with some visuals. It’s not much but it’ll do for now.

I’d like you guys to meet Bonita Styles. Don’t be deceived. She’s a bad influence.

D&G, Bonita Styles | Style Manila, Manila Fashion Blog

She may be looking all fashionable dressed up in that cute green number, cool white sunnies and sporting that funky ‘do but she comes bearing 6 tempting offers, good enough to give in.

Go on. I know you so want to know what the heck I’m talking about.

Baby I Like That

Baby I Like That Shirt, ZARA Collection

Just to prove that I’m in a t shirt shopping frenzy, I’d like to let you guys in on my favourite expression of late — “Baby I Like That”. LOL. I seem to be uttering these words left and right, with every instance that my eyes would rest on a shirt. If this is some sort of flu, then it must be some money-draining-but-oh-so-stylish flu. Heh.

Teh boyfriend and I went to MOA last Sunday to watch U23D on IMAX. Awesome experience, I tell ‘ya. But before that, I dragged him over to ZARA so I can show this t shirt I’ve been checking out. It’s this white shirt with “Baby I Like That” on the front from the ZARA Collection. It’s a bit expensive cuz I’m now Php 1,550.00 poorer. Just for a t shirt! GAWD. But you can see that it’s no ordinary shirt, yea?

‘Delicate Garment’ it said. How is it delicate, you ask? Sequin embellishments! Talk about glamming up a shirt. LOL. You definitely cannot throw this thing in the washing machine. Ack. You’ll ruin it!

Another t shirt added to my collection. I’m looking to adding more. I’ll keep you posted. Hehe.

Feed Me | Style Manila, Manila Fashion Blog

It screams “Menswear” but I just had to laugh when I came across this shirt cuz it’s so applicable to me in so many ways. LMAO.

Interestingly enough, I would never have expected that I’ll be extending a fabulous hat tip to The Technographist for this tshirt find and a nifty shopping advice to boot.

Pictured is our favorite design, a clever play on RSS feeds (you can subscribe to Technograph’s RSS feed here by the way). These t-shirts are great gifts for geeks, bloggers, web developers, and those involved in the online industry.

On that note, if you’re interested to FEED ME, you can subscribe to the Style Manila feed, too. But I also wouldn’t mind a cheeseburger thrown my way. Oh, make that a double cheeseburger. Hehe.

The FEED ME shirt is available at Reboot Technology Wear. Shirts are pre-ordered with tentative price is between the range of Php 340.00 - Php 390.00 per medium-sized shirt. The price is inclusive of delivery fees.

Speaking of t-shirts, let me tell you this, my mind is filled with t-shirts lately. All I’m interested to buy are t-shirts. In fact, I bought a couple from ZARA recently.

Appeal of Age and Antiques

Earrings, CMG

These days wherein most women are working towards keeping up with the trends and all things modern when it comes to their personal style, the appeal of age and antiques on apparel and accessories aren’t all that popular. Apart from the fact that we do find it intimidating to collect and relatively confusing to pick out which ones have that unique vintage characteristic, we often mistake that wearing the trends will automatically equate to our being stylish. But we all know that it’s not true now, don’t we?

Vintage fashion is not just a trend or your typical retro-inspired outfit. It’s like a state of mind.

How do we spot the “vintage” potential of a piece of garment or accessory? I still ask myself that question time and time again. I’m hopeful I could transcribe my own thoughts effectively to, perhaps, help you guys out. (Disclaimer: I’m not an expert on this!)

Lauren, Matthews (Side) | Style Manila, Manila Fashion Blog

First there was Marni then there was Becky. Both were peep-toe stilettos from Syrup. I reckon we’re all properly acquainted with those two. Now, I’d like to introduce to you my new Bronze Peep-toe Matthews Stilts named Lauren. Seriously. They’ve named this pair, Lauren, and it’s right there printed on the inner portion of the shoe.

Vintage Silk Sari

Sasha @ Pantene Event 1

Yesterday was filled with girl-y flurry (and mishaps) that I simply have got to be thankful to Sophie for being such a great girl to hang out with and Angel who came to the rescue of a damsel in a dress distress. If it weren’t for these two lovely ladies, I wouldn’t have dared to let my hair get wet during Pantene Pro V’s event held at the Hotel Intercon in Makati City. Okay. So, I didn’t really get wet (though someone did fall into the pool as was expected), I was just having fun with the words. Hehe. BUT yes, I was close to packing up my stuff, head home and sulk. Early onset of PMSing, I’m afraid.

This dress became a hit with friends last night. Awesome, right? Well, before you go muttering, “it’s just a skirt which she wore as a dress”, like the last time I heard someone say even when twas indeed a dress I wore a while back, listen to this. This time around, it is a skirt that I wore as a dress simply because it’s tailored in such a way that it can be worn in a number of different ways. Brilliant, eh? So mutter away. Heh.

It’s a vintage silk sari called Ophelia. And it’s worth all the dollars I paid for it. All 25 of it. LOL. If converted, it’s worth just over a thousand pesos. Too bad she stopped selling them. I hope she starts making them gorgeous saris again.
